Chief Executive Officer

Fokhrul Islam is the Chief Executive Officer of Global Procurement Group, Northern Gas and Power and their technology hub – ClearVUE Systems. He is an exceptional leader with an entrepreneurial drive that has enabled him to build a successful global group of companies based on technological innovation, customer support and industry knowledge.

Through developing his own understanding of the corporate energy market, he has consistently grown his customer base to well over 20,000 businesses today. Global Procurement Group currently manages over 30 TWhs of energy, enough to power the country of Ireland for a whole year.

In under a decade, Fokhrul (Fu, to colleagues) has built the company’s foundations based on rigorous compliance standards and world-leading energy management technologies which help customers spot inefficiencies in real-time – cutting costs, consumption and carbon.

Fu’s inspiration is to totally innovate new technology that transforms the way businesses interact with energy. He created an innovative tech start-up, with a fresh approach to energy management: ClearVUE Systems. ClearVUE Systems’ goal is simple – to redefine and digitise the energy sector; to show how technologies such as IoT, Big Data, Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning will change the energy landscape and empower businesses to achieve their Net Zero goals.

In 2020, Fu won LDC’s Britain’s Most Ambitious Leader Award in recognition of his stewardship of Global Procurement Group and his pioneering innovation in the transformation of the business energy landscape, enabling businesses to be far more proactive in the way they cut energy costs and carbon.

Since setting up the business in 2013, Fu has grown operations to 5 countries across 3 continents. The group currently operate in Gateshead, Newcastle and Leeds (UK), Paris and Malta (Europe), Texas (US) and Chennai (India), employing around 800 heads currently, with 1000 projected by the end of 2021.

Martin Nicholson

Director

Martin Nicholson is the group’s Technical Director and also operates as the group’s Global Head of Business Development. Martin is a consummate leader, working to identify new opportunities and market trends, where innovative new technology can play its part in helping businesses achieve Net Zero goals.

Martin provides strategic oversight across all elements of the business, and has a vast knowledge of the energy industry. He builds strong partner relationships and is hugely knowledgeable and versatile – with the agility to move from web development to SEO. Martin works across new technological concepts and new market channels, right through to data storage and security.

He has been instrumental to the successful development and launch of the company’s new price comparison engine – BusinessEnergyQuotes.com, as well as the company’s ClearVUE Energy Management systems. His unbounded enthusiasm and experience brings an extra dimension to all he does within the business.

Jonathan Spiteri

Director of IT Infrastructure

Jonathan Spiteri is Director of IT Infrastructure for Global Procurement Group and Northern Gas and Power. Based in Malta, with a Masters Degree in Information Technology from the University of Malta, he also possesses multiple hands-on certifications on cloud, virtualisation, Windows and Linux. Jonathan’s key areas of competency include wide-ranging IT operations, development, problem-solving, large-scale IT-design and implementation focusing on innovation, automation, efficiency, team growth and mentoring.

His vast experience includes 20 years of IT experience in multiple industries including government agencies, telecommunication, web application security, online casino gaming, online video streaming and banking.

Ralph Attard

Chief Technology Officer

Ralph Attard is based in Malta and is the Chief Technology Officer across the group. He holds a Masters Degree in Software Engineering, an MBA in IT Management, and various industry certifications. As an educator and public speaker, Ralph covers server infrastructure, software development, data platforms, enterprise architecture, management, and IT operations. His 17 years of hands-on and leading positions on building fully-integrated and high-performance systems takes our platforms to the next level.

He has been with Northern Gas and Power and ClearVUE Systems for two years, driving the software development for the roll out of the proprietary systems.

Dan Smith

Director of Energy Services

Dan Smith, Director of Energy Services, is responsible for a wide-ranging energy management portfolio helping Northern Gas and Power’s customers improve their energy efficiency and reduce their bills. He became a Fellow of the Energy Institute (FEI) in 2023, which is the highest recognition in this profession.

He is a successful Head of Energy and Chartered Energy Engineer with a depth of experience working for and with a variety of clients, including major blue-chip corporations such as IKEA, Rolls Royce Aerospace and Siemens. He has operated internationally (Europe, Africa and Asia) in FMCG and manufacturing sectors, and has a proven track record of delivering and managing projects, developing and delivering operational strategies, and managing energy and influencing large corporates with respect to energy and sustainability. He is responsible for annual energy budgets up to £20 million, and single-value projects up to £3 million.

His depth of experience brings to Northern Gas and Power an extensive specialist knowledge gained from nearly 30 years in energy engineering, energy services and energy management, in many different sectors all over the world, from China to Zambia.

Umesh Deenadayalan

Executive Director, NGP Websmart

Umesh Deenadayalan is Executive Director at NGP Websmart. Umesh leads the business’ process of technology adoption to fulfil Global Procurement Group’s digital agenda. He has a Masters Degree in e-Technology for Business from the University of Sunderland (UK), and specialises in transforming business requirements into robust solution architectures. He has over 10 years’ experience leading high-potential matrix teams across software design and embedded systems development.

Operating out of Chennai, India, NGP Websmart is a facility dedicated as the technology nerve-centre, supporting Global Procurement Group’s operations and growth strategies as well as the back-end functionality and operability of the energy management solutions. Umesh focuses on developing and deploying innovative technology solutions that drive operational efficiencies, responsiveness and rapid scale growth. Combining both offshore and onsite capabilities, his team works closely with Global Procurement Group’s senior leadership in architecting advanced decision support systems that power global aspirations.

Loganathan G. Bose

Head of Ops, NGP Websmart

Loganathan Ganesh Bose heads the IoT Devices and Supply Chain team in NGP Websmart, Chennai, India. He has more than 23 years of IT experience working at various leading MNCs like Cisco Systems and HCL Technologies. He has a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Computer Science from Madras University and a Master’s degree in Software Engineering from BITS, Pilani. He has vast experience in the networking domain and in developing various protocol stacks. He is passionate about providing technical solutions to real-time business problems and in developing end-to-end IoT solutions.

He has worked for NGP Websmart for more than 2 years and is currently leading the IoT team.

Antonio Giliberto

Lead Software Developer

Antonio is a Lead Software Developer with roughly 15 years of experience in JavaScript, PHP, HTML, CSS, MySQL. He also specialises in VueJS, React, Angular, Laravel. He is passionate about WebGL, physics and algorithms and a real innovator in the field of IoT devices and big data capture which has enabled the speedy roll out of ClearVUE Systems’ technology. Based in the ClearVUE hub in Malta, Antonio started with Global Procurement Group in October 2018.

Chitra Thankathurai

DevOps Engineer, NGP Websmart

Chitra Thankathurai is a DevOps Engineer at NGP Websmart with over 4 years of experience. She has a Master’s degree in Computer Science from College of Engineering, Anna University, Chennai.

She works with software developers and system admins to facilitate code releases or deployments on a CI/CD basis for ClearVUE. PRO. She manages end-to-end Cloud Services: maintenance, upgrade of GCP services, disaster recovery strategy and scheduling backup routines.

Liviu Zachin

Lead Web Developer

Liviu is a Lead Web Developer with over 10 years’ experience. He is a focused, talented full-stack web developer with a passion for innovative solutions in software architecture and design. As an early adopter of new technologies, he always seeks new challenges and brings energy, enthusiasm and expertise to the ClearVUE Systems’ team.

Anand Babu Vinaygam

Big-Data Engineer, NGP Websmart

Anand Babu Vinayagam is a Big-Data Engineer at NGP Websmart. He has over 10 years of experience in Information Technology. His primary responsibilities are designing the architecture of Big-Data platforms and maintaining the data pipeline of IoT devices’ data streams for ClearVUE. PRO. He is also responsible for designing and implementing Big Data tools and frameworks, implementing ETL processes, collaborating with development teams, building cloud platforms, and maintaining the production system. Anand leads several teams at NGP Websmart and is based in Chennai, India.

Srivatsan Raman

Process Manager, NGP Websmart

Srivatsan Raman is a Process Manager with over 8 years of experience of having worked at many multinational corporations including 3i Infotech and Ramco Systems. He currently works on ClearVUE’s Energy Management Systems, namely ClearVUE. PRO and is responsible for onboarding customers’ consumption data on to the ClearVUE. PRO platform. Constant interaction with the stakeholders and various cross functional teams including the teams in UK and Malta is orchestrated by Srivatsan.

He is also responsible for managing the project deliverables, documentation of processes and workflows, activity and resource planning and ensuring stakeholder satisfaction. He has been with NGP Websmart for more than 2 years and is based in Chennai, India.

Raj Kumar Suresh

DevOps Engineer, NGP Websmart

Raj Kumar Suresh is a DevOps Engineer at NGP Websmart with over 2 years of experience. He has a Masters degree in Information Technology from College of Engineering, Anna University, Chennai.

He manages and maintains the Big Data setup related to ClearVUE. PRO. He is responsible for managing other Databases which are required for ClearVUE. PRO’s functionalities.

He is responsible for setting up the automation for PRO related services and manages all alert mechanisms related to PRO. He also plays a key role in setting up the database architecture for energy related data in ClearVUE. PRO.

Simon Sit

Energy Services Manager

Simon Sit, Energy Services Manager, is responsible for the implementation of ClearVUE Systems’ technologies and hardware. Simon has over 15 years’ experience within the Energy Industry, providing Engineering Consultancy services working on combined-cycle, open-cycle, co-generation and heavy fuel oil power plant projects globally.

His experience includes Project and Site Management, Owners Engineer Services, EPC bid and tender evaluation, feasibility studies and pre-financial close due diligence. Simon also has experience in conceptual and detailed design in the Building Services sector.

With ClearVUE Systems, Simon oversees the Energy Services function, including the project management of the ClearVUE product throughout the project life cycle. Simon studied for a degree in Mechanical Engineering Design. He has worked on power generation projects for multinational blue-chip corporations, working in the Middle East, Africa and the Caribbean.

Kevin Falzon

Senior Software Engineer

Dr.Eng. Kevin Falzon is a Senior Software Engineer at Global Procurement Group. He read for a master’s at the University of Malta in 2012 and completed a doctorate at TU Darmstadt in 2016. He has worked in various industries, including enterprise integration, online gaming and on-demand video streaming.

He has been instrumental to the successful roll out of ClearVUE. Lite and ClearVUE. PRO, developing programmes that allow users to efficiently analyse large volumes of metering data and gain insight on their organisation’s consumption patterns.

Hari Balachandran

Hardware Engineer, Devices

Hariharasudhan Balachandran is the IoT Devices Manager designed and manufactured at NGP Websmart.

He has a keen interest in hardware design architecture, with over 10 years’ experience in hardware design and manufacturing. He works closely with Printed Circuit board manufacturers and Electronics Assembly teams and manages the complete supply chain.

Hari is a hardware expert who is always curious about learning new technology and implementing it in business to solve day-to-day industrial problems. Before joining NGP Websmart, Hari successfully designed and delivered essential industrial application products.

Udayakumar Raja

Software Developer

Udayakumar is a Software Developer at NGP Websmart with over 2 years of experience. He has a Masters degree in Information Technology from College of Engineering, Anna University, Chennai.

He is responsible for developing and maintaining Queuing mechanisms to support the data pipeline of IoT device data streams for ClearVUE. PRO. He is also instrumental in building secured APIs.

Raghu Rajendran

Software Developer

Raghu is a Software Developer at NGP Websmart with over 2 years of experience. He has a Masters degree in Information Technology from College of Engineering, Anna University, Chennai.

He is responsible for establishing and managing communication between software applications and hardware (IoT devices) through encoding techniques.

Raghu has also developed and managed various Queuing mechanisms to support IoT devices for their communication and data transmission for ClearVUE. PRO. He is focussed on solving business problems with a creative approach through developing optimised and innovative technical solutions.
